Walkers take on Lugnaquilla for 1 Day for Rehab

These inspriring walkers took on Lugnaquilla in a sponsored climb for 1 day for Rehab.  The group, led by their fearless guides Gerry (bictured below left) and Andrew (below right) undertook the four and a half hour round trip on July 2nd, all in aid of 1 day for Rehab.

Starting at Fenton’s Pub in the Glen of Imaal, the group of 14 intrepid hill walkers took on Lugnaquilla mountain, which is just over 3,000ft high!  Gerry and Andrew and the rest of the group all did something One-derful and all had a great day!  Thanks again everyone.

Thank you……..

We at Rehab never realised just how big the Rehab 1km Swim-a-thon would become, let alone the inspiring people we would meet along the way.  These people did something One-derful for  Rehab and here are their stories.

Anthony Sheehy, 70, and his Granddaughter Maude (pictured below), took part in our 1 Day for Rehab Swim challenge.  Between them both they raised a superb €400!  Anthony, a ‘master’ swimmer, noticed our poster in Coral Leisure in Askeaton, Limerick and felt compelled to raise money for Rehab.  “I wanted to give something back” he said.

Maude, just 10 years old, swam 1km in 41 minutes and her grandfather swam 2.5km in just 62 minutes to which he said, “not bad for a healthy 70 year old!”.

Another inspiring story comes from Polly Holland of Bantry, Co. Cork.  Polly, 13, suffers from Arthritis herself and still managed to swim her 1km in just 24 minutes and 10 seconds!  Having raised a fantastic €153, Polly went on to do her swim at The Westlodge Hotel & Leisure Centre on June 22nd.  These people just go to show that everything is possible and you should let nothing stand in your way!

And finally, not forgetting the swim team of Clondalkin Leisure centre.  This team lead by Enda McNulty, raised a whopping €828 for Rehab.  What a superb effort by everyone involved.

All of the staff and service users of Rehab would like to say a HUGE thank you for your efforts!
