Rehab Services in Cork

In partnership with the Health Service Executive (HSE), RehabCare provides a range of high-quality person-centred services to 187 people across Cork city and county. Resource centres in Douglas, Bachelors Quay and Bantry and an outreach service in Castletownbere provide a wide choice of programmes focusing on independent living, health promotion, personal development, as well as sports and leisure activities for 122 people. All of the programmes in the centres place a large emphasis on people participating in activities within their local community.

The Bruach Resource Centre on Bachelors Quay in the city centre caters for 40 people while the Brandon House Resource Centre in Douglas provides services for 43 people.  The Bantry Resource Centre caters for 37 people as well as a physical and sensory day service which caters for 10 people daily.  The Bantry Respite Service offers overnight respite to 37 people every month. The Bantry Supported Accommodation includes three purpose-built houses, which provide semi-supported accommodation for up to 18 people. The accommodation was built by the Newgrove Housing Association, which works in partnership with RehabCare to provide community-based, supported accommodation to people with disabilities.

National Learning Network, in partnership with FÁS and the Health Service Executive (HSE), provides full-time rehabilitative and employment training courses for persons with additional support needs due to accident, illness or disability.

Its centres in Hollyhill and Model Farm Road in Cork City and Bantry in Co. Cork cater for 304 learners at any time.  The full-time courses, which have FETAC 3-5 certification, ECDL and other appropriate certification  are designed to assist learners to progress on to employment or further training or education or other appropriate outcomes.

National Learning Network provides vocational and employment orientated programmes including Employer Based Training, Catering and Culinary Skills, IT by Distance Learning, IT with Office Skills, Horticulture, Fresh Start and Introductory Skills Training.

It also provides rehabilitative training programmes that cover a range of foundation level personal, social and work-related skills in Bantry and Hollyhill, and Pathways in Mallow. The latter caters for 14 students.  The Focus course, specifically designed for persons with mental health difficulties, is currently run in Penrose Wharf, Clonakilty, Carrigaline and Midleton with 14 students in each location.

Rehab Recycle, Ireland’s premier post-consumer waste recycler is part of Rehab Enterprises, the commercial wing of the Rehab Group. Rehab Enterprises operates a model of social employment which sees people with disabilities work alongside people without disabilities. In Cork there is a Rehab Recycle facility located on Monaghan Road employing 27 people, 17 of whom have disabilities.
