Rehab Services in Sligo

In Sligo, Rehab provides services to over 150 people with disabilities through its divisions RehabCare and National Learning Network.

Rehab provides high-quality health and social care, training and education, and rehabilitation, employment and commercial services in Ireland, England, Wales, Scotland, the Netherlands and Poland. The people who currently use Rehab services include young people and adults with physical, sensory and intellectual disabilities, people with mental health difficulties, people with autism and people with an acquired brain injury. A range of essential services is also provided to older people, carers and others who are marginalised. Every year, more than 50,000 people and their families benefit from the supports provided by Rehab in over 250 locations.

In partnership with the Health Service Executive (HSE), RehabCare provides a wide range of high-quality person-centred services. The resource centre and day service at Aughamore Far in Sligo offers such programmes as computer classes, drama, cookery, advocacy and social skills to 48 people, who can also avail of local community-based activities to various exhibitions and events. RehabCare’s services in Sligo also include two supported accommodation services for a total of eight adults with a learning disability and a semi-independent housing service for four adults. RehabCare also provides a home support service for 12 individuals in the Sligo area, who may require assistance with activities of daily living such as personal care, household tasks or social and leisure activities.

National Learning Network provides training funded by FÁS and the HSE for persons out of work through accident, illness or disability. The centre on Bridge Street in Sligo caters for 86 students from throughout the county and provides vocational and rehabilitative training. Courses offered include Employer-Based Training, which combines on-the-job and in-centre training in a skill area of the student’s choice, along with a number of information technology and business skills courses. A variety of personal and career development courses are also available at the centre such as Turas, for individuals experiencing a high level of social and community isolation, or the Jobstart programme to prepare individuals for entering the workforce or further education.
