Rehab Services in Kerry
In Kerry, Rehab provides services for 220 people with disabilities throughout the county. Rehab is a leading non-governmental organisation which works towards a world where every person has the opportunity to achieve their potential.
Rehab provides high-quality health and social care, training and education, and rehabilitation, employment and commercial services in Ireland, England, Wales, Scotland, the Netherlands and Poland. The people who currently use Rehab services include young people and adults with physical, sensory and intellectual disabilities, people with mental health difficulties, people with autism and people with an acquired brain injury. A range of essential services is also provided to older people, carers and others who are marginalised. Every year, more than 50,000 people and their families benefit from the supports provided by Rehab in over 250 locations.
In partnership with the Health Service Executive (HSE), RehabCare provides a range of high-quality person-centred services to 74 people in Kerry. These include a resource centre in Blennerville which provides programmes on independent living, personal effectiveness and community integration. In Tralee, RehabCare also operate a residential service for people with a range of disabilities including Asperger's Syndrome, and a supported accommodation service.
National Learning Network has two centres in Tralee – in Clash Industrial Estate and in the Education Centre in Dromtacker – as well as a retail training outlet in Kerry General Hospital. National Learning Network provides training funded by FÁS and the HSE for persons out of work through accident, illness, or disability. The centres currently cater for 142 learners and provide the vocational programmes Applied Information Technology, IT by Distance Learning, Catering and Culinary Skills, Sporting Chance, Retail Sales, Woodwork Multi Skills, and Introductory Skills Training. National Learning Netowrk also provides the rehabilitative training programmes Directions and Focus, which cover a range of foundation level personal, social and work related skills. The Focus course, specifically designed for persons with mental health difficulties, caters for 14 students at any one time.
