Rehab Services in Galway

In Galway, Rehab provides services for around 255 people with disabilities at 10 locations as well as employment to 32 people with disabilities under the Wage Subsidy Scheme.

Rehab provides high-quality health and social care, training and education, and rehabilitation, employment and commercial services in Ireland, England, Wales, Scotland, the Netherlands and Poland. The people who currently use Rehab services include young people and adults with physical, sensory and intellectual disabilities, people with mental health difficulties, people with autism and people with an acquired brain injury. A range of essential services is also provided to older people, carers and others who are marginalised. Every year, more than 50,000 people and their families benefit from the supports provided by Rehab in over 250 locations.

In partnership with the Health Service Executive (HSE), RehabCare provides a range of high-quality person-centred services in Galway. These include three resource centres, two of which are operating in Liosbán Business Park and one in Casla.  These centres provide programmes on independent living, community integration and personal development and a range of sports and leisure activities to 67 people as well as an outreach service for seven people. There is also a supported accommodation service in Galway City which assists 11 persons to live independently. A range of specialist services for 34 people, including day, residential, accommodation, community and social supports which are provided to people with an acquired brain injury and people with Asperger's syndrome.

National Learning Network provides training funded by FÁS and the HSE for persons out of work through accident, illness, or disability. The centre in the Horizon Business Park in Ballybrit caters for 130 learners annually with the rehabilitative programmes Employer Based Training, IT by Distance Learning, and the vocational programmes Access, Transition and Tús Nua.

Located in the Liosban Business Park in Galway, Quest Brain Injury Services provides a community based rehabilitation programme for survivors of acquired brain injury between the ages of 18 and 65. Each year Quest assists around 75 people and their families in rebuilding their lives following an acquired brain injury.

Rehab Enterprises is the largest employer of people with disabilities outside the State sector and, since January 2006, Rehab Recycle has been running a processing facility in Galway city providing custom-developed services for large and medium-sized manufacturers in the Western region. Forty-three people are currently employed in the facility, 32 of whom are people with disabilities. Rehab Recycle also provides recycling services for the Western Seaboard from this facility for glass, cans, electronic waste and paper.
