Rehab Services in Donegal
In Donegal, through its divisions National Learning Network and RehabCare, Rehab provides services for nearly 100 people with disabilities. Rehab is a leading non-governmental organisation which works towards a world where every person has the opportunity to achieve their potential. Rehab provides high-quality health and social care, training and education, and rehabilitation, employment and commercial services in Ireland, England, Scotland, the Netherlands and Poland.
The people who currently use Rehab services include young people and adults with physical, sensory and intellectual disabilities, people with mental health difficulties, people with autism and people with an acquired brain injury. A range of essential services is also provided to older people, carers and others who are marginalised. Every year, more than 50,000 people and their families benefit from the supports provided by Rehab in over 250 locations.
In partnership with the Health Service Executive (HSE), RehabCare provides a range of high-quality person-centred services in Donegal. These include a resource centre which provides programmes such as cookery, healthy eating, dance and movement, exercise and leisure, Maths and English to 27 people. RehabCare’s supported accommodation service provides a home for six people in two houses in Lifford.
National Learning Network Donegal provides training funded by FÁS and the HSE for persons out of work through accident, illness, or disability. The centre currently caters for 62 learners in Letterkenny and provides the vocational programmes Employer-Based Training, IT by Distance Learning and JobStart and the rehabilitative programmes Access, Advance and Prospects. In 2011, 69 people took part in courses at the centre.
